LinkedIn Boot Camp Starts Next Week!

ImageIt’s time to put on your combat boots and start packing for LinkedIn Boot Camp. Why should you, you may ask? Many college students and alumni go through challenges when planning a career path or finding a job.

First Scenario: You are searching for your dream job at a company that will fit your needs and where you can excel and grow in the areas of your interest. Sounds far-fetched that a company exists that could meet all of your needs, right? And even if it did exist, how could you ever find it?

Second Scenario: You want to explore what it would be like to work in certain positions and fields. Google isn’t turning up much help and you don’t know anyone that has worked specifically in these positions. You are stuck simply hoping that once you graduate, you love your job and know it was the right fit.

There’s a simple solution to these and many more scenarios college students and alumni go through during career planning and job searching: LinkedIn.

LinkedIn allows you to connect with people and companies to explore your options and build a professional network, keeping everything and everyone organized safely in one place for your access.

For the duration of this semester, the CCO will be holding a LinkedIn Boot Camp. Weekly challenges will be announced on Purdue CCO Blog each Friday to help students and alumni alike in effectively using LinkedIn. Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes, and the lucky top ten “survivors” of the boot camp will be awarded the title of “LinkedIn Legend”!

Layout of the boot camp will be posted next week; to get a head start on the challenge check out the CCO’s LinkedIn Networking page. Keep track of the camp subscribe to Purdue CCO Blog from the right hand column of this page.

Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Sounds exciting, though I don’t need a job right now. I will tweet this out and generate some buzz.

    • Thanks Scott! LinkedIn isn’t just for people who are job searching though. It’s a great place to simply keep track of your professional network and be able to see who you may be connected to through your connections too!
